What to do in a threat...

A disturbing phone call, an e-mail with aggressive content or even a direct threat – respond appropriately.

Practical tips for de-escalation:

  • Listen: Often the counterpart has to off-load his emotions
  • Show understanding:  Anyone who carries grudges and fear with them can get loud
  • Explain: Reasons and necessity of a measure are not always comprehensible for the counterpart
  • Talk: to the counterpart on the aggressive behavior
  • Protect yourself: pull the limits and get support
  • In dangerous situations: call the police (0)117
