Safety Concept – Biological Safety
The DBMR is working with chemical, radioactive and biological hazardous substances, whereby a hazard to humans, animals and the environment can never be completely ruled out. The University of Bern takes the necessary safety measures to protect people, animals and the environment from the negative effects of these works and substances and thus assumes its responsibility for the occupational safety and health protection of its employees.
The DBMR biosafety concept regulates the key points for ensuring biosafety at the DBMR.
Basic rules for safe working in a laboratory used for microbiology or molecular biology have to be followed.

In order to increase the personal safety and to minimize the escape of organisms into the environment, a hygiene plan is kept.
